I am an avid believer that exercising and eating the right foods are the foundations of a healthy lifestyle. My father was the one who advised my mother, my sister, and me to join a gym. I started my gym life at an early age and have worked in the fitness industry for the last six years. I left the fitness industry to work at a corporate job. After losing my family members to a particular disease, I became more into living a healthy lifestyle. Regular checkups with my doctor gave me a clean bill of health. I am grateful, and there is a reason why I am still here in this world. I have been working on living healthily more than ever and wish to share my progression with you. You may adopt my strategy to work on living a healthy lifestyle. I purchased a book called The 4-Hour Body by Tim Ferriss. I did not read the whole book, just the parts that pertained to me. (He does say, in his introduction that you do not have to read the whole book.) The chapter that concerned me the most was on the low-carb diet, which is often called the ketogenic diet. It’s a high-fat, moderate protein, and low-carb diet. Some call it the Atkins diet. Many years ago, I followed the Atkins diet, which helped me lose weight and have mental clarity. However, I did not take it so seriously at the time. This time around, I am aware of my health and want to take consistent action by eating better and exercising smarter. As I read about this diet, I wanted to connect with an accountability partner to keep me accountable for my weight loss. I met with Jaclyn, who is a nurse practitioner and a health coach who assists clients who want to lose weight. She presented me with valuable information about the ketogenic diet. The first week of the diet was hell, but the second week, well, let’s just say it’s a challenging course of action. Continue eating the suggested foods on the list and exercise. Attending the gym at my complex is great, and it’s open 24 hours. However, I wanted to diversify my workout so that I could challenge myself and make it more enjoyable. Boxing sessions were my next intense workout. My whole body is sore, so I am going to need a sports therapy massage at the end of the week. I will keep you posted on my results and my boxing sessions.
